Why We Partner With Training Providers Instead of Training Candidates Ourselves

By the HeadStartIT Team · 3 min read

We started out working directly with fresh graduates — assessing their skills, mentoring them on the fundamentals, and placing them into jobs. It worked, but it also meant we were doing two very different jobs at once: teaching technical skills from scratch, and running placement. The more candidates we worked with, the clearer it became that we were spending most of our effort on the first job and not enough on the second — the one we're actually best at.

The realization

Good technical training already exists, at scale, from people who are genuinely good at it — coding bootcamps, IT training institutes, college upskilling programs. What was consistently missing wasn't the training. It was what came after: turning a technically trained graduate into a placed professional. That last mile — job-readiness assessment, closing the specific gaps that stand between "trained" and "hireable," and running a real placement process — was the part nobody had fully built out.

What changed

HeadStartIT is now a placement platform for skilled freshers, built around partnerships with training providers. We don't teach programming fundamentals — your bootcamp or institute already does that well. We start where they finish: assessing each graduate against what employers are actually screening for, closing any remaining gaps with focused placement coaching, and running the placement process directly with our employer network until they land a full-time offer.

  • For training providers: a placement layer for your graduates, without having to build a placement team.
  • For candidates: a clear, structured path from "trained" to "hired," instead of being left to search alone after graduation.
  • For employers: candidates who've been vetted twice — once by their training program, once by us.

Why this is better for everyone

Training providers get to focus on what they do best — teaching — while still being able to point to real placement outcomes. Candidates get a dedicated placement partner instead of being one more resume in a pile. Employers get a smaller, better-vetted pool instead of an unfiltered one. Specializing in the last mile means we can go deeper on it than we ever could while also trying to teach from scratch.
